This year, Chaitra Purnima will be observed on April 8. The Chaitra Purnima Tithi will begin at 12:01 PM on April 7 and conclude at 8:04 AM on April 8, 2020. This year, Chaitra Poornima also coincides with Hanuman Jayanti, making the day more auspicious.
Chaitra Purnima Significance
On this day, devotees worship Chitragupta – the record keeper of good and bad deeds or karmas of human beings. It is also believed that Lord Shri Krishna organised a Maha Ras Utsav in the Braj region on Chaitra Purnima day. The day also marks the beginning of the Vaishakh month, according to the Hindu calendar.
Chaitra Purnima is also an auspicious day to organise a Satyanarayan Puja. Lord Satyanarayan is believed to an avatar of Lord Vishnu and represents Satya (meaning truth).
Chaitra Purnima Puja Vidhi
Most of the devotees keep fast during Chaitra Purnima. Wake up early on Chaitra Purnima day and take a bath and wear clean clothes. After that take Sankalpa (vow) to observe Chaitra Purnima fast. Fold your hands in prayer and do meditation to invoke Lord Vishnu. If you wish, recite the Satyanarayan katha. In evening, you can offer prayer to the full moon.
